Connect Zed

Add looot as a remote context server in Zed and sign in with the MCP OAuth flow.

ZedNot tested by hand yet

MCP over Streamable HTTP at https://api.looot.ai/mcp

Zed is a code editor with an agent panel. MCP servers are called context servers in its settings.

Before you start you need a looot account. The runs you make spend the organization’s balance, so top up before your first paid run. See Before your first run.

Steps

  1. Open the Agent panel settings (command palette: agent: open settings) and find MCP Servers.
  2. Click Add Server, then Add Remote Server, and enter https://api.looot.ai/mcp. Or edit your settings file as below.
  3. Leave the headers field out. Zed then starts the standard MCP OAuth flow and opens the browser.
{
  "context_servers": {
    "looot": {
      "url": "https://api.looot.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

The server URL is https://api.looot.ai/mcp.

Sign-in

Zed’s docs say that when a remote server has no Authorization header configured, Zed prompts you to sign in with the standard MCP OAuth flow. That is the looot path: sign in, pick the organization, click Connect. For CI-like use you can add "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <token>" } with an agent token, but then the token sits in a settings file.

Check it works

Ask Zed to call balance or catalog_overview. Both are free. A working connection answers with your available balance, or the catalog’s categories and job counts.

A first prompt to try

Ask looot for my balance, then search its catalog for a tool that finds a work email from a name and company domain, and show me the price before running anything.

Troubleshooting

  • No sign-in prompt: check there is no headers entry with an Authorization key.
  • Server shows as stopped: open the Agent panel settings and look for an error on the looot row.
  • Edit the file in Settings, open settings file, not a project copy, for a user-wide server.
  • Still stuck: see Troubleshooting.

What you see when you connect

If the client uses browser sign-in, it opens looot.ai and shows the consent page: which organization to bill, which scopes to grant and how long to stay connected. See The consent page.
