Connect Roo Code

Add looot to Roo Code as a streamable-http MCP server with an agent token.

Roo CodeNot tested by hand yet

MCP over Streamable HTTP at https://api.looot.ai/mcp

Roo Code is a coding agent for VS Code. It reads MCP servers from the global mcp_settings.json or a project .roo/mcp.json.

Before you start you need a looot account. The runs you make spend the organization’s balance, so top up before your first paid run. See Before your first run.

Steps

  1. Create an agent token in Settings.
  2. Open the MCP settings in Roo Code and edit mcp_settings.json, or create .roo/mcp.json in the project.
  3. Add the entry below, with your token in place of the placeholder.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "looot": {
      "type": "streamable-http",
      "url": "https://api.looot.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer <your agent token>"
      }
    }
  }
}

The server URL is https://api.looot.ai/mcp.

Sign-in

Roo Code does not start the OAuth flow itself. Its own issue tracker lists browser sign-in for remote servers as planned. Until it ships, use a token in the header as above, or bridge the sign-in with mcp-remote. Never commit .roo/mcp.json with a token in it.

Check it works

Ask Roo Code to call balance or catalog_overview. Both are free. A working connection answers with your available balance, or the catalog’s categories and job counts.

A first prompt to try

Ask looot for my balance, then search its catalog for a tool that finds a work email from a name and company domain, and show me the price before running anything.

Troubleshooting

  • 401 on connect: the Authorization header is missing or the token was revoked.
  • type must be streamable-http, spelled exactly.
  • Add .roo/mcp.json to .gitignore if it holds a token.
  • Still stuck: see Troubleshooting.

What you see when you connect

If the client uses browser sign-in, it opens looot.ai and shows the consent page: which organization to bill, which scopes to grant and how long to stay connected. See The consent page.
