Connect Perplexity

Add looot as a custom remote connector in Perplexity, sign in with the browser, and check it works.

MCP over Streamable HTTP at https://api.looot.ai/mcp

Perplexity reaches looot through a custom remote connector. Custom connectors are available on Pro, Max and Enterprise plans.

Before you start you need a looot account. The runs you make spend the organization’s balance, so top up before your first paid run. See Before your first run.

Steps

  1. Open Account settings, then Connectors, and click + Custom connector in the top-right corner.
  2. Choose Remote in the dialog.
  3. Set Name to looot, MCP Server URL to https://api.looot.ai/mcp, and a short description such as “Data APIs: emails, phones, companies, search”.
  4. Set Authentication to OAuth and Transport to Streamable HTTP.
  5. Tick the acknowledgement box and click Add, then complete the sign-in in the browser.

The server URL is https://api.looot.ai/mcp.

Sign-in

Browser sign-in works. The client opens looot.ai, you pick the organization to bill and click Connect. No token to copy. Perplexity also offers an API key option; for looot that is an agent token from Settings, only for CI.

Check it works

Ask Perplexity to call balance or catalog_overview. Both are free. A working connection answers with your available balance, or the catalog’s categories and job counts.

A first prompt to try

Ask looot for my balance, then search its catalog for a tool that finds a work email from a name and company domain, and show me the price before running anything.

Troubleshooting

  • The + Custom connector button is missing: your plan is probably Free. Custom connectors need Pro, Max or Enterprise.
  • Sign-in loops back to the form: remove the connector, add it again and pick OAuth, not API Key.
  • The connector lists no tools: check the transport is Streamable HTTP, not SSE.
  • Still stuck: see Troubleshooting.

What you see when you connect

If the client uses browser sign-in, it opens looot.ai and shows the consent page: which organization to bill, which scopes to grant and how long to stay connected. See The consent page.
