Connect JetBrains AI Assistant
Add looot to JetBrains AI Assistant as a remote MCP server.
JetBrains AI AssistantNot tested by hand yet
MCP over Streamable HTTP at https://api.looot.ai/mcp
AI Assistant is the chat and agent in IntelliJ-based IDEs. MCP needs AI Assistant 2026.1 or later, and remote HTTP servers need a 2025.3 or later build.
Before you start you need a looot account. The runs you make spend the organization’s balance, so top up before your first paid run. See Before your first run.
Steps
- Open Settings, Tools, AI Assistant, Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Click Add and choose to enter JSON.
- Paste the config below and save. The server should show as connected.
{
"mcpServers": {
"looot": {
"url": "https://api.looot.ai/mcp"
}
}
}
The server URL is https://api.looot.ai/mcp.
Sign-in
JetBrains documents the URL form but does not describe a browser sign-in. If the server answers 401, add "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <token>" } with an agent token from Settings, or bridge the sign-in with mcp-remote.
Check it works
Ask JetBrains AI Assistant to call balance or catalog_overview. Both are free. A working connection answers
with your available balance, or the catalog’s categories and job counts.
A first prompt to try
Ask looot for my balance, then search its catalog for a tool that finds a work email from a name and company domain, and show me the price before running anything.
Troubleshooting
- No MCP page in settings: your AI Assistant is older than 2026.1. Update the plugin.
- Remote URL rejected: you need a 2025.3 or newer IDE build.
- Type
/in the AI Assistant chat to add or check servers from the chat. - Still stuck: see Troubleshooting.
What you see when you connect
If the client uses browser sign-in, it opens looot.ai and shows the consent page: which organization to bill, which scopes to grant and how long to stay connected. See The consent page.
