Context API / Retrieve brand data

Context.dev tool context-dev-brand-retrieve-post on looot: input fields, $0.025 per call, output shape, and code to run it with curl, JavaScript or Python.

Retrieve logos, backdrops, colors, industry, description, and more. Provide exactly one lookup identifier in the request body: a domain, company name, email address, stock ticker, transaction descriptor, or direct URL. Note: by_direct_url fetches brand data only from the provided URL, not from the entire internet.

  • Tool id: context-dev-brand-retrieve-post
  • Provider: Context.dev
  • Job: Create brand retrieve (brand.retrieve.create)
  • Price: $0.025 per call. A call that fails at the provider costs $0.

Inputs

Name Type Required Description
city string no Optional city name to prioritize when searching for the brand.
country_gl string no Optional country code hint (GL parameter) to specify the country when identifying a transaction.
direct_url string no Full http(s) URL to fetch brand data from (e.g., ‘https://stripe.com/enterprise’). Only this URL is fetched, not the entire internet.
domain string no Domain name to retrieve brand data for (e.g., ‘stripe.com’).
email string no Email address to retrieve brand data for (e.g., ‘jane.doe@example.com’).
force_language string no
high_confidence_only boolean no When set to true, the API performs additional verification to ensure the identified brand matches the transaction with high confidence.
maxAgeMs integer no Maximum age in milliseconds for cached brand data before the API performs a hard refresh. Defaults to 3 months (7776000000 ms). Values below 1 day (86400000 ms) are clamped to 1 day; values above 1 year (31536000000 ms) are clamped to 1 year.
maxSpeed boolean no Optional parameter to optimize the API call for maximum speed. When set to true, the API will skip time-consuming operations for faster response at the cost of less comprehensive data.
mcc string no Optional Merchant Category Code (MCC) to help identify the business category or industry.
name string no Company name to retrieve brand data for (e.g., ‘Apple Inc’).
phone string no Optional phone number from the transaction to help verify brand match.
tags array no Optional tags for tracking usage. Up to 20 tags, each 1 to 50 characters.
ticker string no Stock ticker symbol to retrieve brand data for (e.g., ‘AAPL’).
ticker_exchange string no Optional stock exchange for the ticker. Defaults to NASDAQ if not specified.
timeoutMS integer no Optional timeout in milliseconds for the request. If the request takes longer than this value, it will be aborted with a 408 status code. Maximum allowed value is 300000ms (5 minutes).
transaction_info string no Transaction information to identify the brand.
type string no Discriminator for transaction-based brand retrieval.

Output

The run’s result holds the provider’s answer. Signed in, looot inspect context-dev-brand-retrieve-post prints its fields.

Run it

Every call needs your API token in LOOOT_TOKEN; Sign in shows how to get one. Each run also needs a new idempotency key, so a retry never pays twice. With wait: 30 the answer comes back inline when the run ends within 30 seconds. Otherwise you get the running run back: poll GET /v1/runs/<runId>.

Example input with placeholder values:

curl -X POST "https://api.looot.ai/v1/runs" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $LOOOT_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen)" \
  -d '{"endpointId":"context-dev-brand-retrieve-post","input":{"tags":["production","team-alpha"]},"wait":30}'
const response = await fetch("https://api.looot.ai/v1/runs", {
  method: "POST",
  headers: {
    Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.LOOOT_TOKEN}`,
    "Content-Type": "application/json",
    "Idempotency-Key": crypto.randomUUID(),
  },
  body: JSON.stringify({
    endpointId: "context-dev-brand-retrieve-post",
    input: {
      tags: ["production", "team-alpha"],
    },
    wait: 30,
  }),
});
const run = await response.json();
console.log(run.status, run.result);
import os
import uuid

import requests

response = requests.post(
    "https://api.looot.ai/v1/runs",
    headers={
        "Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['LOOOT_TOKEN']}",
        "Idempotency-Key": str(uuid.uuid4()),
    },
    json={
        "endpointId": "context-dev-brand-retrieve-post",
        "input": {
            "tags": ["production", "team-alpha"],
        },
        "wait": 30,
    },
    timeout=90,
)
run = response.json()
print(run["status"], run.get("result"))

To let looot pick among every provider of this job instead, send job:brand.retrieve.create as endpointId; see the job page.
