The Google Scholar Case Law API returns the full opinion of a US federal or state court case indexed by Google Scholar, identified by its `caselaw_id`. A single response includes the case header (title, full party name, court, first/last page), every reporter citation, the docket numbers, every cited case grouped by case ID with each textual appearance preserved, every footnote split apart from the body, and the cleaned full text of the opinion. **Cross-linking**: The `caselaw_id` value can be obtained from the `organic_results.caselaw_id` field returned by the Google Scholar API when searching in case-law mode (set the `as_sdt` parameter), or from the `referenced_cases.caselaw_id` field of any other Google Scholar Case Law response, chaining cases together for citation-graph traversal.

- **Tool id:** `searchapi-io-google-scholar-case-law`
- **Provider:** [SearchAPI.io](/providers/searchapi-io)
- **Job:** [Google scholar case law search](/reference/jobs/search-google-scholar-case-law) (`search.google-scholar-case-law`)
- **Price:** $0.004 per call. A call that fails at the provider costs $0.

## Inputs

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `caselaw_id` | string | yes |   |
| `engine` | string | no | Fixed to "google_scholar_case_law" for this endpoint. Example: "google_scholar_case_law" |

## Output

The run's `result` holds the provider's answer. Signed in, `looot inspect searchapi-io-google-scholar-case-law` prints its fields.

## Run it

Every call needs your API token in `LOOOT_TOKEN`; [Sign in](/get-started/sign-in#use-the-token-in-scripts-and-agents) shows how to get one. Each run also needs a new idempotency key, so a retry never pays twice. With `wait: 30` the answer comes back inline when the run ends within 30 seconds. Otherwise you get the running run back: poll `GET /v1/runs/<runId>`.

Example input with placeholder values:

```bash curl
curl -X POST "https://api.looot.ai/v1/runs" \
  -d '{"endpointId":"searchapi-io-google-scholar-case-law","input":{"caselaw_id":"<caselaw_id>","engine":"google_scholar_case_law"},"wait":30}'
```

```js JavaScript
const response = await fetch("https://api.looot.ai/v1/runs", {
To let looot pick among every provider of this job instead, send `job:search.google-scholar-case-law` as `endpointId`; see [the job page](/reference/jobs/search-google-scholar-case-law).
