Count how many companies in Icypeas's dataset match a filter query, before paying to retrieve them. Sync: \{success, total\}. Free. Same `query` shape as icypeas-find-companies.

- **Tool id:** `icypeas-find-companies-count`
- **Provider:** [Icypeas](/providers/icypeas)
- **Job:** [Count company search](/reference/jobs/company-search-count) (`company.search.count`)
- **Price:** $0 per call. A call that fails at the provider costs $0.

## Inputs

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `query` | object | yes | Filter object for the company dataset. Each field takes \{include:[...], exclude:[...]\} (open text) unless noted: name, lid (LinkedIn public id, e.g. "google" from linkedin.com/company/google), urn (numeric LinkedIn id), companyId (domain, URN, LinkedIn URL or vanity name), type (Privately Held \| Sole Proprietorship \| Self-Employed \| Partnership \| Public Company \| Nonprofit \| Educational Institution \| Government Agency), industry, location (alpha-2 country code preferred; a comma narrows it, e... |

## Output

Shape of the run's `result`, checked against 61 real answers:

```txt
{ total, success, validationErrors: { type, field, actual: {}, message, expected, humanReadableMessage }[] }
```

## Run it

Every call needs your API token in `LOOOT_TOKEN`; [Sign in](/get-started/sign-in#use-the-token-in-scripts-and-agents) shows how to get one. Each run also needs a new idempotency key, so a retry never pays twice. With `wait: 30` the answer comes back inline when the run ends within 30 seconds. Otherwise you get the running run back: poll `GET /v1/runs/<runId>`.

Example input with placeholder values:

  -d '{"endpointId":"icypeas-find-companies-count","input":{"query":{"industry":{"include":["Real Estate"]},"headcount":{">":10}}},"wait":30}'

To let looot pick among every provider of this job instead, send `job:company.search.count` as `endpointId`; see [the job page](/reference/jobs/company-search-count).
