These steps follow the client's own MCP documentation, linked in Sources below. looot has not tested them in this client yet. If a step fails, tell us on the [support page](/support).
:::

Zed is a code editor with an agent panel. MCP servers are called context servers in its settings.

Before you start you need a looot account. The runs you make spend the organization's balance, so
top up before your first paid run. See [Before your first run](/money#before-your-first-run).

## Steps

1. Open the **Agent panel** settings (command palette: `agent: open settings`) and find **MCP Servers**.
2. Click **Add Server**, then **Add Remote Server**, and enter `https://api.looot.ai/mcp`. Or edit your settings file as below.
3. Leave the `headers` field out. Zed then starts the standard MCP OAuth flow and opens the browser.

```json
{
  "context_servers": {
    "looot": {
      "url": "https://api.looot.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

The server URL is `https://api.looot.ai/mcp`.

## Sign-in

Zed's docs say that when a remote server has no `Authorization` header configured, Zed prompts you to sign in with the standard MCP OAuth flow. That is the looot path: sign in, pick the organization, click **Connect**. For CI-like use you can add `"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <token>" }` with an agent token, but then the token sits in a settings file.

## Check it works

Ask Zed to call [`balance`](/mcp-tools/balance) or [`catalog_overview`](/mcp-tools/catalog-overview). Both are free. A working connection answers
with your available balance, or the catalog's categories and job counts.

## A first prompt to try

```text
Ask looot for my balance, then search its catalog for a tool that finds a work email from a name and company domain, and show me the price before running anything.
```

## Troubleshooting

- No sign-in prompt: check there is no `headers` entry with an `Authorization` key.
- Server shows as stopped: open the Agent panel settings and look for an error on the looot row.
- Edit the file in **Settings, open settings file**, not a project copy, for a user-wide server.
- Still stuck: see [Troubleshooting](/connect/troubleshooting).

## What you see when you connect

If the client uses browser sign-in, it opens looot.ai and shows the consent page: which organization to bill,
which scopes to grant and how long to stay connected. See [The consent page](/connect#the-consent-page).
