description: Add looot to Roo Code as a streamable-http MCP server with an agent token.

These steps follow the client's own MCP documentation, linked in Sources below. looot has not tested them in this client yet. If a step fails, tell us on the [support page](/support).
:::

Roo Code is a coding agent for VS Code. It reads MCP servers from the global `mcp_settings.json` or a project `.roo/mcp.json`.

Before you start you need a looot account. The runs you make spend the organization's balance, so
top up before your first paid run. See [Before your first run](/money#before-your-first-run).

## Steps

1. Create an agent token in [Settings](https://looot.ai/settings).
2. Open the MCP settings in Roo Code and edit `mcp_settings.json`, or create `.roo/mcp.json` in the project.
3. Add the entry below, with your token in place of the placeholder.

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "looot": {
      "type": "streamable-http",
      "url": "https://api.looot.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer <your agent token>"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

The server URL is `https://api.looot.ai/mcp`.

## Sign-in

Roo Code does not start the OAuth flow itself. Its own issue tracker lists browser sign-in for remote servers as planned. Until it ships, use a token in the header as above, or bridge the sign-in with [mcp-remote](/connect/mcp-remote). Never commit `.roo/mcp.json` with a token in it.

## Check it works

Ask Roo Code to call [`balance`](/mcp-tools/balance) or [`catalog_overview`](/mcp-tools/catalog-overview). Both are free. A working connection answers
with your available balance, or the catalog's categories and job counts.

## A first prompt to try

```text
Ask looot for my balance, then search its catalog for a tool that finds a work email from a name and company domain, and show me the price before running anything.
```

## Troubleshooting

- 401 on connect: the `Authorization` header is missing or the token was revoked.
- `type` must be `streamable-http`, spelled exactly.
- Add `.roo/mcp.json` to `.gitignore` if it holds a token.
- Still stuck: see [Troubleshooting](/connect/troubleshooting).

## What you see when you connect

If the client uses browser sign-in, it opens looot.ai and shows the consent page: which organization to bill,
which scopes to grant and how long to stay connected. See [The consent page](/connect#the-consent-page).
