Cline reaches looot's catalog, balance and runs over MCP, through its MCP settings file. Cline's docs describe headers, not browser sign-in, so this client uses a token.

Before you start you need a looot account. The runs you make spend the organization's balance, so
top up before your first paid run. See [Before your first run](/money#before-your-first-run).

:::note
Not tested by hand yet. Steps follow [the client's own docs](https://docs.cline.bot/mcp/connecting-to-a-remote-server); if a menu has moved, that page wins.
:::

## A token in the config file

This client has no browser sign-in. The server URL is `https://api.looot.ai/mcp`. Create an agent token in [Settings](https://looot.ai/settings) and send it as `Authorization: Bearer <token>`. Never commit it and never paste it into a chat.

**cline_mcp_settings.json**

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "looot": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://api.looot.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer <agent token from looot.ai Settings>"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## Notes

- Cline's docs list only headers for remote servers, not browser sign-in, so this client uses a token. Create the token at looot.ai/connect under Advanced: set up with a token instead, and copy only the token.
- To open the file: click the MCP Servers icon in the Cline panel, open the Configure tab, then click Configure MCP Servers. The Cline CLI reads ~/.cline/mcp.json.
- "type": "streamableHttp" must be set. Without it Cline may pick the legacy SSE transport.
- The Remote Servers tab has no header field, so it cannot carry the token.
- Labels may differ slightly in your version.

:::note
We could not confirm whether Cline can sign in through the browser. If you see a Connect button in Cline after adding the URL, the token is not needed. Otherwise use the token above, and keep it in the settings file only.
:::

## Check it works

Ask Cline to call [`balance`](/mcp-tools/balance) or [`catalog_overview`](/mcp-tools/catalog-overview). Both are free. A working connection
answers with your available balance, or the catalog's categories and job counts.

## Let your AI guide you

Paste this into Claude Code or any AI assistant and it walks you through the setup.

```text
Help me connect the looot MCP server https://api.looot.ai/mcp to Cline in VS Code. Go one step at a time and wait for me to confirm. After each step, ask me for a screenshot, check it, and tell me exactly what to do next. Ask me to hide any token first. Check my settings file with me as we go. Steps: 1. Create a token at looot.ai/connect under Advanced. 2. In Cline, click the MCP Servers icon, open Configure, click Configure MCP Servers. 3. In cline_mcp_settings.json add looot under mcpServers with type streamableHttp, the url and an Authorization header with the token. 4. Save. This client needs a token in its config file. Never ask me to paste it into this chat. At the end, ask looot for my balance, run ipinfo-lite on 8.8.8.8, and tell me both results.
```

## What you see when you connect

Nothing opens a browser here. The token you put in the file already carries its scopes and its organization, set when you created it at looot.ai/connect under Advanced.
